The excellent "Apprentice" BBC series which ended in May saw 14 ambitious business people put through a series of rigorous challenges in order to win a £100k job with Alan Sugar, founder of Amstrad.
The BBC has published some key tips from Sugar on its website - "There is a very serious underlying meaning to each programme - a lot of people are going to learn some great business lessons from it."
The key points are:
1. Respect authority
2. Listen to your colleagues
3. Be flexible
4. Know your market
5. Control your costs
6. Don't pretend
