BIG Programme to Help Small Businesses in North Yorkshire |   |
SMALLER businesses with big ideas in rural North Yorkshire are being promised a helping hand.
Business Link York and North Yorkshire's BIG programme is targeted at businesses typically employing between one and 50 people.
It has been developed following discussions with business owners about the challenges they face on a day-to-day basis that act as barriers to expansion.
The programme is supported and funded by the Leeds-based regional development agency, Yorkshire Forward, and the European Regional Development Fund.
Business Link adviser Peter Donoghue, who is heading the programme, said: "Owners, or the principal managers, of eligible businesses are invited to become part of a group of 12 like-minded individuals who set their own improvement agenda, which they implement through a series of workshops and development meetings through which they can improve skills, make new contacts and make best use of their existing resources.
"Feedback from companies that have completed similar programmes elsewhere in the UK shows that, on average, they have experienced a 34 per cent increase in turnover, a 50 per cent increase in new business and an 85 per cent improvement in internal systems."
