Business Link helps businesses cope with flooding

 print  e-mail

Following severe flooding across parts of England, Business Link is urging businesses to put plans in place to protect themselves against further damage and disruption due to flooding. Business Link is directing businesses to its free online guide.

The guide stresses the importance of drawing up a contingency plan in the occurrence of flooding, and provides advice on getting the right insurance and training employees. Also included are a number of links to key organisations such as the Environment Agency and the British Insurance Broker’s association.

Jonathan Hollow of Business Link told Bytestart;

“We have been seeing over the last few days that flooding can be absolutely devastating. As well as suffering damage to your premises or equipment, you may lose stock and supplies. You may also find that you are unable to trade while the damage is being repaired."

“Preparing for any eventuality is an essential part of business continuity planning. Knowing what the risks are, how to protect against them and, importantly, how to recover will give a business the best chance of survival. Businesslink.gov.uk’s online advice on flooding and other potential disruptions to operations will help you prepare for future emergencies.”

In addition to this guide and other features on business continuity, businesslink.gov.uk also includes other tools, advice and guides across a broad range of areas.
