Survey reveals how smokers get their sneaky cigarette at work!

Faced with not having a designated place to smoke in, nearly 50% of people will actually go without a cigarette at work. It seems the majority of smokers will resist the temptation to pop out – a positive response for the transition to smoke-free workplace!

The most obvious assumption is to pop out of the front door. This however, resulted in a slightly lower proportion of responses where only 37% say they go out of the front door to have their cigarette.

Astonishingly, 19% will actually sneak into the toilets. Although this is the lowest response – this is still 19% who are that desperate! It looks as if school days behaviour has continued into the workplace for some.

The UK government has resisted the calls to ban smoking totally from the workplace so far, however, the workplace is fast becoming a smoke-free zone for most companies resulting in a nicer atmosphere for everyone. A positive sign from the TipTopJob survey is the high % of people actually resisting a cigarette if there is no designated area to go to. Could we naturally be progressing to smoke-free workplaces across the UK or will there always be smokers desperate for their fix?
