Virtual Networking - Scotland's newest business tool
The launch of The Grapevine, Scotland’s newest business networking website is the latest step in the development of an idea for providing an effective information tool that began less then two years ago.
West Lothian based Jennie Hamilton launched herself in business as a freelance Virtual Assistant five years ago.
Aware of the fast growing numbers of new businesses and budding entrepreneurs that Scotland was producing, Jennie realised that working individually or with minimal staff, these new businesses could not have access to much of the often complex information that successful business development requires.
The-Grapevine virtual business network was launched in February 2004, initially with a list of 350 email addresses of friends and contacts. At first, the virtual networking was carried out via a regular e-newsletter. The bulletins offered help on sourcing business support systems and specialist knowledge, as well as offering new and small businesses the opportunity to present themselves to potential clients.
The-Grapevine’s distribution list has grown steadily to reach its current 6,500, covering a wide variety of members, from businesses start-ups to MSP’s.
The-Grapevine enables members to build mutually beneficial business relationships, with members also benefiting from preferential rates for a wide variety of business services.
Membership of The-Grapevine is free, with a nominal charge levied for advertisers. To find out more, click here.
