Websites help small business to increase sales

Results of a survey released this week show that half of small businesses, using a website to promote themselves, have increased their turnover by 20%. So in this week's newsletter, we have a focus on websites.

More and more small businesses are realising the importance of an effective website. However, many websites owners make some elementary mistakes. To stop you from falling into the same trap, we have an excellent guide on 'Classic small business website design mistakes you must avoid'.

When you have your website up and running, you need to generate visitors to your site - otherwise what's the point of putting all that effort into developing a great website.

One of the best ways to get traffic to your website is through search engines such as Google, MSN and Yahoo!. To make sure you attract a good volume of the right type of visitors you need to research and work out what keywords you should target.

Popular keywords are very competitive and for a small business it's virtually impossible to get high rankings when you're competing against thousands of other companies with bigger resources.

To help you to find good keywords make sure you read our guide on, 'How to find good keywords for your small business website'.

If you're still not convinced about the benefit of having a website, you'll find seven compelling reasons why all small businesses would benefit from having a web presence in our article, 'Web-enabled small firms benefit from additional sales'.

You will find a host of guides covering all aspects of websites and website marketing on Bytestart including;
