Making New Year resolutions work
A warm welcome back to all our readers. Business121 and Bytestart are now back up and running after a festive break with our mix of new articles, tips and news for small business owners and entrepreneurs.
The beginning of the year is, traditionally, a time to make some new year resolutions - an opportunity to compile a mental wish-list for the next 12 months.
Apparently, most New Year resolutions revolve around health and money. It's doubtless that diet books, products and pills will be selling well now, and anybody that uses a gym will be familiar with the swollen numbers during the early weeks of the year.
However, one of the problems with New Year resolutions is that people tend to be a little over-ambitious in their aims. Setting an impossible target means that motivation will quickly sap away and and the well-intended resolution will become another broken promise.
So if you're making any business-related resolutions make sure that they are achievable. And if you do achieve what you set out to, make sure you reward yourself.
If you set realistic goals for yourself and your business, and then focus your energies on achieving those goals you're on the way to a successful 2007.

WE SPECIALISE IN MORTGAGES FOR THE SELF-EMPLOYED
Many small business people will have a horror story or two to tell about the hassles they have had trying to arrange a mortgage.
It's all too easy to obtain an 'online agreement in principle' only to find that, after a nerve wracking two week wait, you're rejected when the underwriter realises you're not a permanent employee or asks you to show accounts (which clearly won't reflect what you truly earn - otherwise you need a new accountant!!)

Guide to working securely with wireless
Keeping vital information safe is critical for workers on the move, particularly on a wireless network. Here are some essential tips for ensuring all data on a wireless network is secure.
Landlord and Tenant: A Contractual Relationship?
Some useful information for landlords who may be faced with tenants who have broken the terms of a lease. Is it more worth while suing for rent, or simply attempting to re-let the premises.
