Successful networking

Networking with other business owners can be very a very productive pastime. Especially if you don't just think of other networkers as a source of potential business.

Fellow business owners can also be a great source of ideas, inspiration and down-to-earth practical advice. If you can learn to tap into this valuable resource you can get so much more out of networking than a dozen business cards.

This week we have two articles on networking. Firstly, we've reviewed the main networking groups out there so you can see which might suit you. As well as the nationwide options there are hundreds of local networking groups that run up and down the country. It's well worth seeking out those running in your area.

Secondly, to help you to get the most of the networking events you attend, we have a new article with some tips on how to network successfully.

Finally, if you have any comments on the networking groups we've covered in the article, please do email them in to emyr@Bytestart.co.uk

PCs change so quickly it can be scary process researching and buying a new one. Here is a handy, non-technical guide to the main issues to consider, before you part with your cash.

Five strategies to help your business grow

Reviewing how your business is performing
It's easy to focus on the day-to-day running of your business. But once your business is established, it's time to start planning again. Here are some guidelines on how you can measure how your business is performing and plan improvements.

The Health & Safety basics no business can ignore
Every business is legally obliged to make sure employees and customers are not harmed in any way by the actions of trading. We look at the health and safety basics you every business should know about.

Business Insurance – Insurances your business must have
Just like driving a car, you are required to have certain insurances to run your business (third party fire and theft), and it’s advisable to have others (fully comprehensive). Here’s a look at some insurance policies that will add protection to your business.

Conservatives would cut business red tape
The Telegraph business blog reports business has finally been given a clear distinction between what life is like under Labour and what it could be like under the Conservatives. John Redwood, is to propose this week that a Tory administration would prioritise a £14bn cut in the cost of regulations imposed on businesses and the voluntary sector.

Business to face the bill for public services

Email plague 'driving us to distraction'
Increasing numbers of employees say they are swamped by a never-ending tide of messages that leave them tired, frustrated, unproductive and stressed reports This is Money.

Late payment problem hits new record - large companies worst culprits
