The rise of Firefox, for the time being?

From our Bytestart weblogs, we've noticed that the number of Firefox users has climbed dramatically over the past year - with over 12% of Bytestart visitors using this new brand of browser.

However, NetApplications.com says that Firefox usage on the sites it tracked slipped from 8.71 percent in June to 8.07 percent in July. Meanwhile, Internet Explorer gained ground, going from 86.56 percent usage in June to 87.20 percent in the same period.

It'll be interesting to see if Firefox stands its ground or does a "Netscape" and gradually dies away as new and improved versions of Internet Explorer are released.

We think not, as Firefox is an open source application, and is widely praised by developers world wide. In our opinion, it is also far more stable and user friendly than IE.
