Google Enterprise - Search tools for small companies

 print  e-mail

A recent study has found that British companies are wasting the equivalent of 36 days per worker per year in lost productivity at an estimated cost of £70bn.

The research by Proudfoot Consulting calculated that British firms achieved less than two-thirds of maximum efficiency between 2003 and 2005, with more than a third (36.6 per cent) of working hours being wasted.

Statistics have shown that employees can spend up to 25 per cent of their day searching for information they know exists but just can't find. Employers could be helping to reduce this productivity gap by providing employees with tools to speed up their day by implementing an efficient means of searching for information, productivity gains can potentially be made.

Google is well renowned for its search technology on the internet, but this same capability is being applied to the business environment. Google Enterprise provides search products for both small to medium sized organisations and the multinational global enterprise.

The Google Enterprise product range enables companies to search all types of information silos including, documents, html, web, IM, secure content, databases, images etc. As well as ensuring the information is located efficiently it is important that this is a secure process.

Google Enterprise has security protocols built into the machine allowing the IT manager to control the information that employees can view. Confidential documents can be protected to ensure they do not fall into the wrong hands and to satisfy compliance issues.
