Budget 2010 date set for 24th March
The Chancellor, Alistair Darling, has confirmed that the Budget will be unleashed on 24th March, just weeks before the expected date of the General Election.
Gordon Brown is also making a speech on the economy later today, and is expected to explain how he intends to tackle the UK's enormous debt pile.
With council elections already planned, it seems likely that the General Election will also take place on May 6th.
We will update this dedicated section with Pre-Budget speculation, and the main points on Budget day itself.
